On the auspicious occasion of the 10th Birth Anniversary of His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, PemaGatshel Dzongkhag inaugurated the Denchhi Integrated Farmers Market Facility, inaugurated by His Excellency Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho, Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

The project, with a total outlay of Nu. 16.68 million, is funded by CARLEP/IFAD, Wangkhar, Mongar, in collaboration with the Dzongkhag Administration, with co-financing support from the Royal Government of Bhutan. The initiative is expected to strengthen the vegetable and livestock value chain and enhance rural income generation in the Dzongkhag.

The facility will provide improved market access for rural farmers, reduce dependence on imported vegetables, and ensure better availability of fresh agricultural and livestock products for the residents of Denchhi town. It is expected to promote quality, hygienic, and chemical-free farm produce through proper packaging, display, and fair pricing.

Designed as a state-of-the-art market with more than 16 sales counters, the facility will serve farmers from the eight upper gewogs and encourage increased agricultural and livestock production. With proper SOPs and guidelines in place, it will ensure a reliable supply of local produce to the town.
