Strengthening Dzongkhag disaster preparedness.
The Dzongkhag Disaster Management Team conducted an awareness session on earthquake and fire safety and overall disaster preparedness. The Standard Operating Procedure including the roles and responsibilities of response teams during emergencies was presented and discussed.
The Procurement officer presented the Emergency logistics preparedness procurement manual on procurement during disasters. The Forestry Sector presented the SOP for forest fires, activities of the forest fire coordination group and shared key messages on forest fire prevention and response. A table top simulation for earthquake was also conducted and a drill planned to be held on 20 March 2026.
The session held meaningful interaction among participants on mitigation plans in the event of disasters. The program was attended by Dasho Dzongdag, Dasho Dzongrab, Sector Heads, Gups, LG officials, Regional Office representatives, Red Cross, and Desuup, reaffirming a shared commitment towards building a safer and more resilient PemaGatshel Dzongkhag.
