A consultation meeting on youth and substance abuse in Bhutan was conducted at the Druk Migyur Dechen Dzong with the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee of NC.
Given the importance of the meeting in the overall scheme of things, the meeting was attended by Dasho Dzongdag, Dasho Dzongrab, DT Thrizin, RBP OC, Sector Heads, school Principals, Gewog officials and relevant stakeholders of PemaGatshel Dzongkhag.
The meeting primarily focused on the need for streamlining the policies and laws related to substance abuse and implementation and/or revision of existing rules to cater to present and foreseeable future demands. The SCAC of the NC also sought views and opinion from the participants on possible intervention strategies for demand and supply reduction for alcohol abuse in the country.
The meeting was very insightful and deliberations very meaningful in our joint quest to make Bhutan a healthy society.
